Some of the Features That Make the Ram 1500 a Better Pre-Owned Option Than the Ford F-150

If you’re shopping for an exceptional used pickup truck in the Big D, you might be browsing some of the top competitors in the space, including Ford and Ram. If so, then it’s our expert opinion that you should be looking into a used Ram 1500 for sale in Dallas. Many Texas drivers visit our website and search our extensive nationwide online inventory for a pickup truck that can handle tough jobs but can also appeal to a driver’s softer side—the side that likes comfort and convenience. Hey, just because you need a work-ready body style like a pickup truck doesn’t mean you don’t want some special touches that make for a more comfortable, enjoyable ride and easier days on job sites.
Since the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 are both popular full-size, light-duty pickups and many shoppers compare the two, we’re going to take a close look at the luxury and convenient features of these trucks between the 2019 and 2021 model years. We’re examining these particular model years because they’re just old enough that most (if not all) of their depreciation has already occurred (one of the perks of shopping used), but they’re still recent enough to offer modern technology. Let’s take a look at why we believe the Ram 1500 will be the most appealing to drivers looking for an exceptional experience by highlighting some of its standout features.
The Class-Exclusive Four-Corner Air Suspension
For all three model years—2019, 2020, and 2021—the Ram 1500 has a four-corner air suspension system, and the F-150, sadly, does not. This was a big missed opportunity for Ford because this system offers a comfortable ride and improves convenience in several ways. So, what is this system? Well, it consists of air springs and an air compressor that can adjust the vehicle’s ride height, as well as its stiffness. With precise control over ride quality, the vehicle can help create a smoother ride on bumpy roads, so if you do venture outside the polished and paved roads of Dallas for rougher environments, the Ram 1500 will keep your drive from feeling like a roller coaster ride.
An adjustable air suspension also means that the Ram 1500 can be lowered or raised, which comes in handy when you’re hitching a trailer to it, want to improve aerodynamics going at high speeds, or simply want an easier experience getting in and out. Finally, this four-corner air suspension system can automatically balance the truck out when you’re carrying heavy loads or have a heavy tongue weight for a more even drive. As you can see, this thoughtful system makes for a smoother rider experience and makes some tasks easier, too. And it’s only available on the Ram 1500.

Reclining Rear Seats
If you’re one of those thoughtful drivers who likes to make sure that your rear seat passengers are comfortable, then you might like knowing that the 2019, 2020, and 2021 Ram 1500 all have reclining rear seats. Getting stuck in the back doesn’t have to feel like punishment when you can put that seat back for a nice nap, or stream shows on your laptop from a more comfortable angle.
For the model years we’re looking at, Ford did not give the F-150 reclining rear seats. However, in 2021 they did give the F-150 reclining front seats, which are a nice touch. However, for both models, the front seats already outshine the rear ones in terms of comfort features like climate control functions and adjustability. So, it’s more unique to see a truck give rear-seat passengers added perks, which is what makes the Ram 1500’s reclining rear seats stand out so much here.
Wireless Phone Charging
When you have busy days driving around Dallas, it’s easy to forget your phone charger. But when you’re stuck on US 75 in traffic, you want a fully-charged phone battery so that you can listen to music, make calls, or check your navigation for an alternate route. Luckily, the 2019, 2020, and 2021 Ram 1500 have an available wireless phone charging pad.
Ford didn’t give the F-150 a wireless phone charging pad until 2021. So, while you can technically find it available in a used F-150, the model years you can shop with this feature are limited. So if you liked the 2019 or 2020 model, but have grown accustomed to wireless phone charging, you’re limited to that 2021 F-150.
The RamBox Cargo Management System
When Ram introduced the RamBox Cargo Management System, it immediately set itself way ahead of the competition. The Ford F-150 still doesn’t have an available feature like this. There are accessories you can add that bring some of the functions of the RamBox to the F-150, but only the Ram has this truly unique system. So, what is it? It is a weatherproof, lockable and drainable cargo box. Why do we love it? Because there are probably plenty of times you have items that won’t fit in your truck cab, but shouldn’t be left in the bed for a number of reasons, like security or poor weather. The RamBox gives you a secure place to stash such items, away from the elements.
The drainability of the RamBox is really useful, too. If you’re tailgating, you’ll love having a drainable cargo box. You can load it up with ice and keep your refreshments in there. Once the fun is done, just drain it and you’re ready to go. It’s also a great feature to have on long work days when you need to keep drinks and perishable food on hand for you and your crew.

The Most Speakers Available
For the entirety of the years we’re examining, the Ram 1500 has a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system available. This is a really high-quality, immersive sound system that will have you and your passengers feeling like you’re sitting at a live concert or in the recording studio with the podcasters.
Ford made some interesting speaker choices for 2019 and 2020 when it only had up to 10 speakers available for the F-150. Finally, in 2021, they upgraded to an available 18-speaker system. Still, for two years, their biggest sound system fell very short of the Ram 1500’s. And when they finally made an improvement, they still fell one speaker short of the Ram 1500’s top sound system.
